Everyday Vacation Look

Hey everyone! I'm still vacationing in New Mexico, and because we are doing so many things throughout the day that are outdoors it's not really practical for me to wear a lot of makeup or play around with different looks. So here's my second tutorial showing you guys the really simple but still flattering way I've been wearing my makeup on vacation. It's not just for vacation, it's a really great everyday look and I used products that are definitely dupable. Hope you like it!

Start with a bare eye and prime your lid and
lower lash line
With a brush of your choice, pat a shimmering
pink color all over your lid

With a crease brush, place a dark brown in your
crease and blend well. Then with a pencil brush,
smudge the same dark brown along your upper
and lower lash line
With a liner of your choice (I'm using brown)
line your tight-line and water-line. Then add
your favorite natural mascara.

Add a dusty pink blush and a soft pink gloss
and you're finished!

Products Used:
Primer: UDPP
Eyes: Tarte Day to Night Palette (light pink and brown shade)
Liner: Clinique Liner in Brown (love!)
Mascara: Covergirl Exact Eyelights in Black Gold
Cheeks: Coastal Scents Allure Blush
Lips: Estee Lauder High Gloss in Rose

The Marvelous Uses of #2: Lavender

Hey everyone! So this is the second part of my mini-series for "marvelous" and unexpected beauty uses from common products that are from your kitchen, or easy to find. The reason I chose lavender for my second product is because here in New Mexico (where I'm vacationing now) the farmer's market I went to had so much lavender! I've always loved it, but rediscovered my love (lol) at the farmer's market because there are so many ways to use it. My favorite thing about it is that with many scents (even ones I love) if I smell it too much it gives me a headache, yet even smelling the pure bundles of lavender I didn't get one! I also chose this because it's scent is known to be very calming and with school and all the stress that comes with it starting up again I thought it may be useful. So enough of my boring babbling here are the uses I chose!

1) Perfume, Room Spray, etc.: This is obvious, but I absolutely love the scent! And if u buy it in a bundle, it gives a really nice subtle scent; and if you buy the essential oil or a spray you can build up it's intensity.

2) Bath Oil: Adding a few drops to your bath for a calming and soothing soak.

3) Sunburn Soother: Add a few drops of essential oil, mix with water and spray on your end-of-summer sunburn to soothe it

4) Redness Reducer: If you have a red pimple, place a few drops on it to calm the redness

5) Soap, Lotions, etc.: I'm lazy so I prefer buying instead of making lol but I found a quite simple recipe for making lavender soap so if you try it out lemme know how it works out:
  • 8 tablespoons boiling water
  • 10 tablespoons finely grated castile soap
  • 2 tablespoons dried and crushed lavender flower petals
  • 4 drops of lavender oil
Crush the flower petals until they are powdery. Melt the soap in the bowling water in a double boiler. Stir it frequently until it is smooth and melted. Remove from heat, and stir in the crushed flower petals. Pour into a bottle and keep covered. Source: http://www.thriftyfun.com/tf86320320.tip.html

Update and my First Makeup Look Post!

Hey everyone! So I just wanted to do a quick update and let you know that the reason I haven't been posting for the last few days is because I'm on vacation on New Mexico! The hotel we're at finally has internet so hopefully I can a get few posts in but when I get back I'll also be telling you guys all about my trip and what I did. But the main part of this post is to show you guys a look I created that I think is a good look for a fall night (or day if you want to tone it down or you like going dramatic during the day). I just wanna note that my camera picked up a lot more shine and glitter as opposed to the deepness of the look, so if you get a chance to try it out it will look more deep than it appears. So I hope you like it :)

Start with a bare eye and prime your lid and
lower lashline so your color lasts

Apply a lavender (shimmery or matte) cream
shadow all over the lid as a base

With a shader brush, mix a light-medium plum
with a medium beige color and place it all over
your lid

With a crease brush run a dark plum along the
crease and with a pencil brush sweep the same
color along the lower lash line

With a crease brush place a deep brown
along the outer-v of your eye and with
a blending brush blend the colors well
but be careful not to over-blend

With a brown eyeliner pencil, line along your
upper lash line and waterline. Then put on a few
coats of brown mascara (black is fine if you don't have)
Note: the reason I chose browns is because it keeps the look warmer and more "fall-ish" to me but black is fine as well

Use a plum blush on your cheeks and a nude gloss
and/or lipstick on your lips to complete
the look!

Products Used:
Primer: UDPP
Eyes: Revlon Illuminance Cream Shadows in Wild Orchids
Coastal Scents 88 Matte Palette
Liner: Clinique Liner in Brown
Mascara: Lashblast Fusion in Brown
Cheeks: Elf Mineral Blush in Plum
Lips: Sephora Collection Ultra-Shine Lip Gloss in a nude shade

Drugstore Haul!

Hey everyone! So today I was very excited to go to the drugstore to get some products that I've been dying for. Because most of them are skin/body care, I'm going to try them out for a little and then I'll do a more in depth review of them, but for now here ya go!

All the stuff I got (not including the lip treatment)

Neutrogena Sugar Scrub
Olay Tone Enhancing Body Wash
Neosporin Overnight Lip Treatment
Revlon Lipgloss in Lilac Pastelle
Maybelline Color Sensational Lipstain in Wink of Pink
Aveeno Positively Radiant Cleansing Pads
Neutrogena Healthy Skin Eye Cream
Neutrogena oil-free moisture spf 15

- Neutrogena Sugar Scrub... about $11: Everyone says that you're supposed to exfoliate your face and body around once a week, so I'm testing out this one to see how it works!

- Olay Tone Enhancing Body Wash... about $8: I've used a bottle of this before and wasn't a fan of the smell (it's not terrible though) but it's really soft and moisturizing when you put it on and I want to maintain the color I get during summer for as long as possible

- Neosporin Overnight Lip Renewal Therapy... about $5: This is my second jar! I use this every night year round, most importantly in winter, because I have really bad chapped lips when I don't. Although I don't like having to dip my finger into the jar, I deal because it moisturizes and heals soooo well (I think after having used it for so long it plumps my lips a little too!)

- Revlon Lipgloss in Lilac Pastelle... about $7: I got this because I had heard so much about it recently and I thought it was a really interesting color. I'm still going to test it out some more but from what I can tell it's a very pigmented and gorgeous cool lavender shade, but I have to use a small amount otherwise it washes me out a little, and I think it would definitely wash out tan skin tones, but most likely not deep skin tones (if you use this gloss please let me know what you think!)

- Maybelline Color Sensational Lip Stain in Wink of Pink... about $7: I love lipstains and out of curiosity and comparison to the Covergirl ones I bought this. I haven't used it yet, but after I do I'll let you know how it is!

- Aveeno Positively Radiant Cleansing Pads... about $10: I've heard a lot of great reviews on this and it seemed like something I could really get a lot of use out of. Apparently my mom thought the same thing because we're sharing it haha. I haven't tried it out yet either.

- Neutrogena Oil-Free Moisture spf 15... about $8-10: As you might know from one of my previous posts, I've been on the hunt for a great daily moisturizer and I finally settled on this one. I've only used it twice so far so I'm going to keep testing for a little longer before I give a full review, but so far it felt a little runny on my fingers when I pumped it, but it feels lightweight on my skin which I like

- Neutrogena Healthy Skin Eye Cream... about $15: I've also been on the hunt for a great eye cream and got this because it was on sale from buying the daily moisturizer. I've used it twice now and I like how it feels lightweight on my skin, but I regret buying it a little because it's only for fine lines (I wanted one for puffiness and dark circles as well) and one of it's ingredients actually makes your skin more prone to sun rays when you first begin to use it :/ but I'm going to give it a chance for a while and see how it works out

The Marvelous Uses of Olive Oil

Hey everyone! I'm doing a mini series on "marvelous uses" of some common items that might not have the benefits we normally expect. Here's part 1:

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think it's pretty easy to assume most people have  a bottle of some classic EVOO (extra virgin olive oil) in their homes. And most of the time we use it in cooking some of our most delicious meals. But surprisingly enough, olive oil can do some wonders outside of your kitchen too! A lot of the time, beauty and skincare products advertise olive oil in it, so using it straight from the bottle must be great too (and a lot cheaper). I researched a few different websites, and here is my list of what I think are the best ways you can benefit from olive oil!

1) Moisturizer: Rub some on your feet before bed, throw on some socks and voila! baby soft feet. Do the same with your hands too and don't forget elbows, knees, lips, even your scalp, or any other dry patches for deep moisture.

2) Makeup Remover: Grab a tissue or a Q-tip and some olive oil for an easy, sting-free makeup removal that will soften the skin around your eyes. But fyi, remember that it's olive OIL, it will make your skin feel a little oily

3) Shaving Cream: It might not seem as thick as the one you normally buy, but trust me it'll prevent your legs from bumps and nicks just as well. Oh yea, and leave them silky smooth too!

4) Sun Protectant: I haven't tried this one out yet, but aside from having moisture rich ingredients to keep your skin from drying out in the sun, olive oil also contains ingredients that will protect against UVA and UVB rays.

5) Exfoliator: Mix sugar in with some olive oil for a great body and facial exfoliator.

My first tag yayyy!!!

Hey everyone! So I was tagged by the awesome Julie to answer these beauty questions so here we goo

1) What's your favorite makeup look?
I love changing my look everyday but probably neutral eyes with liquid liner, and a little color on my lips (usually from a stain)

2) Do you have a beauty vice?
It takes me a million tries to get my gel or liquid liner even!

3) What part of your body do you love?
Ummmm... probably my hair because most of the time it's straight, shiny, and easy to manage/put it in different styles

4) Who is your beauty icon?
Well, I wish I could answer this question right away, but I'm really not sure. I guess if I had to choose, I would say it's a tie between Keira Knightley and Gemma Ward (is that cheating?) and this will probably change soon anyways lol.

5) What beauty product makes you instantly feel good?
My eyeliner no doubt.

6) How do you look after your skin?
I'm kinda lazy and trying to get better but I wash my face usually every other day, clean it with pads every day, spot treat any pimples that come up, and I remove my makeup every night. I'm also looking for a moisturizer and eye cream so that will be part of my routine soon too

7) What is your signature scent?
Vera Wang Princess love love loveeee!!!

8) What is your hair care secrets?
I really don't have any, I guess I'll say unless your hair is very oily, shampoo and condition every other day instead of every day to avoid overworking and drying out your hair.

9) How do you pamper yourself?
It's so superficial of me to say, but I always love pampering myself with retail therapy :)

10) What would your desert island must haves be?
I guess these must haves have to be beauty related except I might not really need anything if I'm alone on the island and no one can see me lol but so I don't cheat on this I'd need concealer, clear lipgloss, mascara and my Coastal Scents 88 Palette.

11) Finally, do you have a beauty philosophy?
Keep your makeup natural and pretty always and be more willing to take away than keep adding.

So I just wanted to thank Julie again for giving me my first tag! I had a lot of fun and the people I tag are...
and anyone else who wants to do this!!

Review: Maybelline Eyestudio Quads

Hey everyone! I know the attention of these have kind of died down lately, but I have seen some interest in them still, so here's my review on the Maybelline Eyestudio shadow quads.
The one I own is in #10 Mad for Mauve:

Colors in the Quad (all very shimmery):
1) Light pink/champagne color
2) Darker pinky purple color
3) Olive and emerald green color
4) Maroon color

Each quad runs for between $7-10 at drugstores.

From the image of the quad, the colors are really shimmery and pretty, which is why I was so drawn towards it in the first place. I know you shouldn't do this (so shhh) but before I bought it, I opened and swatched it haha. And as you can tell from the image of the shadows on my fingers they look so pigmented and I just couldn't resist. I thought, "wow, I found really pigmented, shimmery, gorgeous colors... at the drugstore!" But as you can tell from the swatches on my arm, they tend to lose their pigmentation as soon as they're blended just slightly. And when I blended them out further, they had no staying power and quickly turned into what was basically tinted glitter. On my eyes the same thing happens, along with some fallout, even when I wear primer. Even when I really pack it on, the intensity fades quickly throughout my day, and when I next look in the mirror, I usually see just shimmer. One thing I might try is applying it wet, which is annoying and more time consuming, but I'll let you guys know if it works out any better.

One thing I really do like about this product though, is that it comes with a dual ended foam applicator, and although I don't like to use them, one end is a very tapered applicator that I found good for in the crease or lashlines.

So overall, I would not purchase this again but I definitely recommend it for people just starting to get into makeup who want to practice with shimmery, decently pigmented shadows, although they don't last long. As well, I like the fact that they come in several color sets so I think most people will be able to find one that suits them.

Housing Works

Hey everyone! So this weekend I went to the city and for the first time went to this amazing store called Housing Works. It's a thrift shop in the city and they have a website and a few locations, so I'll list them at the end of this post. Although all of their stuff wasn't amazing (which is common with thrift shops), they had a lot of really awesome stuff for even more awesome prices! Even better, they had a 35% off everything sale so I couldn't resist. Here are the two things I got:

Juicy Couture hoodie it's so warm and only
$30 (not including discount)

Marc by Marc Jacobs T-shirt only
$20 (not including discount)

So you can see how amazing some of their stuff is. They also had lovely bags, shoes, and jewelry for really cheap! My total was only $32.50 and I can't even guess how much it would have been if these clothes were at their original prices. Here's the link to their website and locations:

P.S. sorry for how poorly spaced/sized this post is even when I rearranged it and tried it fix it, it just wouldn't change :/
