Pin Up!

Hey everyone! I feel like I've said this many times before, but I am so sorry to not have been updating frequently. I'm in one of the most challenging years of my life academically and it's been really taking up a lot of my time, unfortunately, it most likely will for the rest of the year. But my camera is officially fixed so I will promise to try and make posts as often as I can! Today's look is something I figured I should do eventually because it's such a simple and timeless look... pin up! My version isn't necessarily unique, but it's definitely easy to recreate with your own beauty products and I hope you find it fun, easy, and beautiful! P.S. Instead of listing the products I use at the end of my post, I'm putting them in bold under each pic :)

Prep your face with your favorite
moisturizer (Neutrogena spf 15),
foundation (not shown b/c I don't
wear), concealer (Sonia Kashuk) and
set with powder (
Clarins). Also,
before you start the look, apply
a clear lipbalm so your lips are
smooth when it's time to apply the
bright red lips

Place a matte taupe shadow (Lancome Latte)
over a bare, primed lid (UDPP)

For a little definition, place
a darker taupe along the crease
and a hint of dark brown in the
outer corner (Coastal Scents 88 Matte)

With a liquid (Loreal Lineur Intense)or gel black liner, make a winged line
of your desired thickness and length.
On the water line, line with a black
pencil (Rimmel Black Magic

If lining the water line looks too
heavy for you with this look, just
line your upper lashline with that
classic pinup wing and leave the
waterline out

To keep your red lips on longer,
line or stain (Covergirl Outlast
in 435)
your lips lightly with
a red shade

For the most precise application,
use a lip brush to apply
the best red lipstick (Estee Lauder
Rich Red)
for you. To amp up the color,
place a red liquid lipstick (NYX Round
Gloss in True Red)
 on top, although
this is optional. Note:My lips were
WAY more red than it appears in this pic.
Even on my camera it came out vivid, but the
color for some reason fades a lot when I
uploaded it to Blogger :/

Finish off with a soft
pink blush (Coastal Scents)
and a dab of highlight on
your cheekbone for a glow
(
ELF Shimmer Palette
)

And that's it, hope you enjoyed!

Favorite Drugstore Makeup Products!

Hey everyone! I am so so so so sorry I haven't posted in a while but I lost my camera charger and it's out of power :( So for this post I'm going to talk about some of my favorite drugstore products because if you're like me, it's a lot easier to drool over the amazing high end products than actually whip out the cash for them! These aren't listed in any particular order, I like them all... hope you enjoy! Note: I'm sorry I can't give the exact prices for them, it's just that the prices vary depending on the drugstore you buy them at

1) Covergirl Exact Eyelights Mascara: I've used this mascara for well over a year now, and even though I try new ones I always come back to this for my daily mascara. It's lengthening and volumizing, but at the point where it is totally wearable for day time. And because it really has noticeable gold flecks in it (to enhance your eye color) it adds a little something extra.
Price: About $7-8

2) Covergirl Lashblast Fusion Mascara: This mascara is relatively new but I was really excited when it came out because it seemed like the best of both worlds (volumizing and lengthening). And I think it truly does both! I use this on the weekends when I go out at night because for me it gives a very dramatic look, but I absolutely love it!
Price: About $8-9

3) Maybelline Eyestudio Gel Liner: This liner was very popular when it came out, and I can see why! This is one of the first gel liners I ever bought so I don't have much to compare it to but I think it's great! The brush it comes with gives a precise line (although now I use the Sonia Kashuk bent liner brush which is even better) and the formula is smooth and very black. I find it to smudge just a little bit, but overall it's quite long lasting and great for an every day look to a dramatic nighttime look as well.
Price: About $6-7

4) L'oreal Lineur Intense Liner: This is my absolute favorite liquid liner so far. I haven't even felt the need to try out other more expensive ones because this one is just so great! It's a felt tip liner that provides a true black and precise line that's so easy to wing out. Love love love!
Price: About $7-9

5) Revlon Illuminance Creme Shadow in Wild Orchids: I was so curious about these cream shadows for a while, and I'm really glad I finally picked them up. The 4 colors it comes with are shimmery and very creamy. The one reason why I don't absolutely love this product is because they lose some of their pigmentation when blended onto your eye and they do crease a lot. But for their price, I expected it. Overall I like this though because the colors are gorgeous and very creamy.
Price: About $6-7

6) Revlon Nail Polish in Minted: I'm not very into nail polishes, but for months I had been dying for a mint green polish. Finally I found one for a great price by Revlon! The color is perfect and I found the formula to be really opaque, I could have gotten away with just one coat! I did find the formula to be a little bit gloopy, but it may just be because I suck at applying nail polish lol. I saw that they do have a wide range of shades, so check it out!
Price: About $5

7) ELF Shimmer Palette: I know that this brand is not sold in all the main drugstores, but it has the drugstore price tag so I decided to mention it. I'm very iffy with the products I get from ELF but this is one that I could not live without! It comes with 4 extremely creamy, blendable shades (a frosty white, a frosty beige, a frosty gold, and a frosty pink) that can be used on your cheeks, eyes, and lips. I haven't used the pink shade as much as the others, but the other three I use all the time because they are amazing cheek highlighters! As well, the gold shade I find to be a good dupe for the infamous Kitten smudgepot from Stila. It also comes with a small stiff brush for applying on your lid, lips, or cheekbones. For only $3 how could you live without this?!
Price: $3

8) NYX Round Lipglosses: This brand is also not sold in all of the main drugstores, but it is in some. These glosses are not as popular as their square tubed ones but I don't understand why! They are EXTREMELY pigmented and not sticky AT ALL! When I first heard that they weren't sticky, I couldn't even imagine a lip gloss not being that sticky, but it's true! They go on so smoothly, last a long time, and I am free of the "hair-sticking-to-your-lips-in-the-wind syndrome"! Love!
Price: $2.95

9) Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer: I've used up a tube of this and am on to my second, it's a great product. Because I've found a better concealer, I don't use the concealer side, but I am obsesssssed with the illuminator (it's a dual ended product). It's a beigy pink color that has this gorgeous iridescence that I want to put all over my face! It really gives a great glow and I find it extremely comparable to many higher-end highlighters.
Price: About $8

10) L'Oreal Infallible Lip Colour: I've recently begun using this product (I have shade 508) and it truly is infallible. The easy to carry, compact case has a tube of liquid lipstick on one side and a tube of a sealing lip balm on the other. I find the color to be very pigmented, smoother than most traditional lipsticks, and it really is very long lasting. The three things I dislike about this product is that you have to wait 2 minutes before putting on the balm (and I'm very impatient lol), it does get pretty drying after a few hours, and the price. But for the fact that it lasts so long, I believe it's worth it!
Price: $11.99

I hope you get the chance to try some of these products out, and if you do let me know if you like them!

Vera Wang Princess!

Hey everyone! I wanted to let you know about what I just got in the mail the other day... Vera Wang Princess! It is my second bottle of the perfume (a feat I never thought I'd accomplish) and it also came with an adorable heart-shaped solid perfume/keychain. I absolutely LOVE this scent, I wear it every day and I find it perfect for day or night and all seasons of the year. For my birthday, my aunt and uncle gave me Amazon gift cards and I used them to purchase the perfume. It's such a great gift because Amazon has links to get all of my favorite things... especially Sephora (which is where I got the perfume from through Amazon). From the perfume's description it smells like: So this is obviously a little much but I just wanted to give you guys all the deets lol. It's a little bit hard for me to describe this scent but it's definitely a girly scent and I still get compliments after having worn this for well over a year! Please test out this perfume if you get the chance because I bet you'll love it! Underneath this is the exact set I got... love it! (can I say that enough?!)

Created for the playful, unpredictable, independent woman who treats every day like an event and adventure. This is a woman who likes to make her own magic, this sheer, flirty blend of water lily, lady apple, mandarin meringue, and golden apricot skin are melded with sheer floral notes, accented with dark chocolate, and finished with a pink frosting accord, amber, warm woods, musk, and vanilla - a whimsical treat.
Notes:
Water Lily, Lady Apple, Mandarin Meringue, Golden Apricot Skin, Ripe Pink Guava, Tahitian Flower, Wild Tuberose, Dark Chocolate, Pink Frosting Accord, Precious Amber, Forbidden Woods, Royal Musk Captive, Chiffon Vanilla.

So this is obviously a little much but I just wanted to give you guys all the deets lol. It's a little bit hard for me to describe this scent but it's definitely a girly scent and I still get compliments after having worn this for well over a year! Aqua and Pink Look

Hey everyone! I'm so sorry I haven't posted in a while, but school just started for me again this week and it's been really hectic. Because I'm in such a crucial year of school this year, I might not be having as frequent posts as I'd like but I'm going to try my best! Although it might not be fitting of the season I created this really fun look that I hope you all enjoy, it's great for a fun night out or just for playing around with makeup!
Another thing, this look has both bright eyes and lips, so if that's too much for every day use, just use one or the other (ie neutral eye with bright lip or vise versa)!

With a primed lid, pack on a shimmery silver
or white shadow all over the lid. With a
tapered brush run the color along the lower
lash line as well

For a little bit of definition, place a slightly
darker silver shade in the crease and blend
well. Make sure the impact of the light
silver is still present

With a vivid aqua liquid liner, line your upper
lash line; I know this doesn't look great...
I fixed it after :)
Line your waterline with a black pencil and
coat your lashes generously with mascara.
This is optional, but I placed some of the
silver shadow used in the beginning on top
of the black liner

Apply a hot pink lipstick to your lips

Place a pink blush on your cheeks. Then with
the silver shadow used on your lid, highlight
your cheek bones... and you're done!

Products Used:
Eyes: Sephora Shadow in Aspen Summit for lid color
Coastal Scents 88 Palette for crease color
Liner: Jemma Kidd Liquid Liner in Covert
Rimmel Special Eyes in Black Magic
Mascara: Clinique Lash Doubling Mascara
Cheeks: Sephora Blush in Rose Abricot
Sephora Shadow in Aspen Summit for highlight
Lips: Estee Lauder Pure Color Lipstick in Candy

Thanks for reading :)

Fall Runway Look: ALEXANDRE HERCHCOVITCH

Hey everyone! I wanted to do a look inspired by fall runway makeup and I chose this awesome look from the Alexandre Herchocovitch show:

Alexandre Herchcovitch Fall 2010 Makeup
Of course, it's not the most wearable look, but by taking out the orange it can become more wearable, and the vibrant gold in the inner corner is one of those classic tricks to brighten your eye, which I really like about this look. It's also a more daring version of the neutral lid with a pop of color on the lower lash line look which I've seen a lot of, even from my friends! So I hope you enjoy this look and find a way to make it your own wearable version :)
With a clean, primed lid, place a thick line of
white cream shadow on the outer half of
your lower lash line

With a thicker angled brush, press a vibrant
orange shadow on top of the cream shadow
(the white gives the creamy effect and brings
out a stronger color)

Take a gold/beige cream shadow on the
inner half of your lower lash line and press
a yellow/gold shadow on top to bring out
a really bright gold shade
With a brush of your choice, place a taupe
shade all over your lid

With a black liner, line your upper and lower
waterline and coat your lashes with a black
mascara

Contour your cheeks with a bronzer of your
choice and add a touch of highlight to the
highest point of your cheek bone. Either
leave your lips bare or use a matte lipstick
close in color to your natural shade

And you're done!

Products Used:
Primer: UDPP
Eyes: ELF Shimmer Palette for cream shadows
Coastal Scents 88 Palette and Lancome Shadow in Candid for Orange
Coastal Scents 88 Palette for gold
Victoria's Secret Quad in Sultry for lid
Liner: Rimmel Special Eyes in Black Magic
Mascara: Estee Lauder Projectionist
Cheeks: Clinique Bronzer in Sunkissed
The Body Shop Tinted Glow Enhancer
Lips: Estee Lauder Lipstick in Pinkberry

Skincare Review

Hey everyone! A while back I did a drugstore haul that featured mostly skincare items that I was excited to try out and review for you guys. I've been using them for a few weeks now and wanted to share my opinion and hopefully help you out

1) Neutrogena Daily Moisturizer spf 15:
    Pros:
    -Lightweight
    - Hasn't broken out my skin
    - Absorbs well (no excess shine or white residue)
    - Tube locks to prevent spilling
    - Has a pump to release product
    - Decent protection
    - Good price

    Cons:
-Slight sunblock smell (doesn't bother me really)
    - A little runny when it first comes out of the bottle
    - Not strong enough for going to the beach or days when you know you'll be exposed to a lot of sun

Repurchase? I want to see what else is out there, but so far this is pretty good so I will probably go back to it, just one with a higher spf

2) Neutrogena Sugar Scrub:

    Pros:
    -Skin softer after one use
    - Smells amazing (citrus scent)
    - Not too rough on skin

    Cons:
    - Hard to rinse off, it sticks to your skin pretty well
    - Have to use a lot of product to get enough for your whole body

Repurchase?: Yes. Like the moisturizer I might want to test a few others out but I think this one is good for sure.

3) Aveeno Positively Radiant Cleansing Pads
    Pros:
    - Smells good
    - Haven't broken out from it
    - Exfoliates and cleans in one step
    - Skin feels softer

    Cons:
    - Says safe to remove eye makeup, but it stings my eyes
    - Skin isn't necessarily more "radiant" but softer definitely
    - Takes a little time to rinse off all the way

Repurchase?: Most likely. I love how it cleans and exfoliates my face in one product and it's a fast "pick me up" for when school starts again.
